Blanket-Time! 3 New Novels to Warm Your Weekend

Autumn is creeeeeeeeeeping in, and I don't mind a bit!  These cold, grey weekends are perfect excuses to build a blanket fort, make a bucket of hot chocolate, and hunker down with some corking reads.  In other words: to have some well-deserved YOU time.

Right in time for this weekend there are three new books out that are at the top of my entertainment list - Thrill! by the ultimate feminist, Jackie Collins, The Hygge Holiday by Rosie Blake, and Christmas at Mistletoe Cove by Holly Martin.  What about you?  What are you reading at the moment, and will you be curling up with any of the below?

Thrill! The Celebration Edition by Jackie Collins - out 21st September

We heart Jackie Collins, and we miss her so much.  She built an empire, inspired so many people, and her female characters were total bosses.  We'll be dedicating some good Strong Women Squad space to her over the coming weeks to coincide with the publication of this Celebration Edition and her birthday, on the 4th October.

Lara is a dazzling movie star with the world at her feet, but at thirty-two she has yet to find a man capable of living with such a tempting object of desire...

Richard, Lara's ex, is a successful film director now married to Nikki, an up-and-comer producing her first film, Vengeance. Nikki likes to keep Richard close, but he is not the kind of man who takes orders.

When Nikki persuades Lara to star in Revenge, a bitter struggle for control of Lara's life begins... But then Lara meets Joey Lorenzo, a handsome young actor with a mysterious past. Before she can stop herself, she's swept up in an affair so sensual she ignores all the warning signs...

From chic New York and the exclusive Hamptons to the hungry heart of L.A., this high-suspense tale pulses with deadly obsessions and relentless desires in a seemingly perfect world.

Jackie's website can be found here, and check out Books and the City, her UK publisher's website, for more Jackie news and features.
All of Jackie's many books can be picked up via Amazon.

The Hygge Holiday by Rosie Blake - out 21st September

Hygge - 'a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture)' - is pretty big at the moment, and rightly so.  Who doesn't want to be cosy and comfy?  Rosie Blake has perfectly woven these content feels into her new novel, and all wrapped in a rose-gold cover is just happiness in book form.

It's autumn in Yulethorpe and everyone is gloomy. It's cold, drizzly and the skies are permagrey. The last shop on the high street - an adorable little toy shop - has just shut its doors. Everything is going wrong for Yulethorpe this autumn. Until Clara Kristensen arrives.

Clara is on holiday but she can see the potential in the pretty town, so she rolls up her sleeves and sets to work. Things are looking up until Joe comes to Yulethorpe to find out exactly what is going on with his mother's shop. Joe is Very Busy and Important in the City and very sure that Clara is up to no good. Surely no one would work this hard just for the fun of it?

Can a man who answers emails at 3 a. m. learn to appreciate the slower, happier, hygge things in life - naps, candles, good friends and maybe even falling in love?

Christmas at Mistletoe Cove by Holly Martin - out 22nd September

Holly Martin is the QUEEN of gorgeous seasonal reads, and the sparkling new Christmas at Mistletoe Cove is just guaranteed to warm your cockles (is this a really British phrase?).  I'm very lucky to get to hang out with lady often as we both live in Devon, and she's just as lovely as the books she writes.

Christmas has arrived at Hope Island, promising snowflakes, surprises and plenty of seasonal joy. So snuggle up and fall in love at Mistletoe Cove …

Growing up on Hope Island, Eden Lancaster always believed that if you wished hard enough for something, dreams really could come true. But Eden’s greatest wish is also her biggest secret: she has been completely in love with her childhood friend, the charming and attractive Dougie Harrison, for as long as she can remember. And he has no idea.

When Dougie leaves his successful life in New York to return home to Hope Island for good, Eden can’t escape her feelings. Her heart is full of hope that her romantic dreams are finally, at long last, going to come true…

This Christmas could change everything. But can a lifelong friendship really turn into the perfect romance? And will Eden get the happily ever after she’s always wished for?
